About 10 or so years ago, I watched a period piece that I seemed long but I really enjoyed. The story line is about a girl who is interested in two guys. She professes her love for one, but he can't stay, he's going to the army or something but promises to came back and marry her then. Impatient, she marries the other guy who is abusive and I do believe a homosexual. I remember his mother not treating the girl properly either, telling her all the duties she's have to do now that she gained a title (dutches, countess??) Her husband was abusive to the maid also. The guy returned from the war to find her married and I'm not sure how it ends. can you help me figure out the title to this story and where i can watch it.
