The evening. It was set around the 1950's about a young man who lives with his mother and step-father as his true father is believed to be dead in the war. But the boy still carries a photograph of his dad which he rips up at the end after he returns but is not the same man he remembers fondly. He also is friends with a girl his age who takes her to the cinema. I think his father is shot at the end. Would greatly appreciate if anyone knows what programme I am thinking of.
