I think it was a romantic British mini Tv series, but maybe it was a movie or American. Set in ca 1800-something, filmed in 1990s I think.
Plot;
A white rich/middle class woman falls in love with a black poor worker. They are not allowed to marry by her family but they got a mulatto child.
The child, a girl, is the main character.
The young mulatto woman works for a white rude man who is a painter/artist.
After some time they fall in love and wants to marry. The mulatto woman finds her sick father who gives his blessing to them befor he dies.
