Title Help

I'm looking for a movie I remember watching as a child, so 1980s to early 1990s. I only remember a few plot details, but I believe it was set in World War 2. There was a girl who found a house in the woods and she was collecting paint and wallpaper to decorate it. For some reason she had stopped eating (maybe to save money for supplies?). At another point in the story the house is bombed. I seem to remember other children in the movie as well, perhaps she lived at a boarding school or orphanage. Thanks for any help, I've googled everything I can think of and come up short.
