Title Help

Hi. I'm looking for the title of a film my mother mentioned to me. It's a Chinese period film where someone from the army was sent to get help but he didn't and (most of) the rest of the army died and the emperor didn't even know about it. I remember one soldier getting caught on fire but survived because he fell off a cliff or something and there was a lot of ice down there.
My mother said that her siblings recommended it to her last year because it was really popular in China, I even see it on TV sometimes. This film also got complimented for the costumes, they are not too colorful like most Chinese period films.
