There was a British tv show in the 90's I watched when I was very young.
The main thing I remember about it was a scene in which a man and a young boy fall off a cliff together, when they land the boy has landed on the man and survives, the man who I think was his father dies. I think the boy was called Jake, I had the name Jacob's ladder in my head but that's an american movie.
