So I believe this is from the 70's or possibly earlier. The beginning starts with a family in a camper pulled over by a cliff over a canyon sightseeing. The dad and son are by the cliff mom is inside camper and tells dad to back camper up. He does but camper goes over cliff killing parents. The rest of the movie is about the little boy learning to survive the wilderness being taught by a man he meets while trying to steal his apple. The man is on a journey to a place in the wilderness to die (you don't find this out til the end though)By the end the boy has the skills needed, taught by the old man, to survive on his own. It may take place in Australia as I remember Kangaroos. Been looking for this for a long time.
