Hi ii ve been looking for this movie's title for years.
Probable from 80s 90s not sure.It's about slavery.
Thé opening scene : a little white boy tells the black slave (about same age as him )his relatives just bought that ''he is orphan too'' They become really close . he taught him to read. Gave him Shakespeare plays etc...
Then grow up and decide to escape and start to help otjer slaves to escape . The white pretends to be a wealthy merchant in order to get close to one family as possible suitor to ther daughter. He fells in love with their beautiful black slave and décidés to help her escape with her little brother.
