This movie is from the 30s or 40s. A very beatiful young woman, a socialite, marries a highly successful young man. They get a daughter with golden locks. However, mother has a deep resentment bordering on hatred toward the child and the child is severely punished for literally breathing if not being told to do so. The father, unable to protect the child, leaves. The motber continues with severe abuse. I need the title. Please help!
