Very hazy on this, I thinks it's a 1940's film and the scene I can remember is a woman is being held in an old house, her guard is a female mulatto, there is a man that needs to keep her there I think for inheritance purposes, she escapes and runs down a corridor to a newer part of the house, she's not mad but they try to make her mad... It's not Jane eyre or wuthering heights, it's a costume drama and I think it's an American one, black and white
