French period piece about a young woman in love with a childhood friend. She is forced to marry his cousin but they carry on an affair. He later becomes engaged to a princess and to not ruin that he try's to break it off with the other woman. She basically becomes a scorned woman and won't take no for an answer. She becomes careless and is eventually found out and losses everything. I thought it was called Montpellier or maybe that is the setting...???
