There was an older movie (1930's or 40's) about a women who is the mistress of a married man for many years. When he dies she meets his children and has to hide that she was their father's mistress. It shows what she sacrificed (children of her own, etc.) by choosing love rather than her own life. I believe that about 10 years later they made a remake, but I cannot remember either title.
