Hi, I'm searching for a period movie (1700/1800's). I believe it came out in the late 90's. The story is about a man who has a sick wife (bedridden) and impregnates a young woman to give a child to his wife. Eventually, the young woman (the mother) seeks out her child and becomes the nanny to her own child living under the roof of the man who impregnated her. She teaches her unruly child to read and write and she and thd father fall in love. I recall the man swims daily in a cold pond. The man leaves his wife's window open during the winter and she dies. The father, nanny and child leave the house to begin a new life. Hope you can help. Thanks.
