Hi, I am looking for the name of a movie I once saw. It is a British black and white film from the 1940's or 1950's. The young woman is a shop assistant and gets pregnant. I can't remember if she was a widow or an unwed mother, but she tried to look after the child and hold down her job but found it increasingly difficult so she put the child up for adoption. The child went to a loving couple who lived in a beautiful spacious home in the country, I remember lots of beams inside the house. Many years later I think she wanted to get her child back and went to visit the family but I think the child wanted to stay with his adoptive parents as that was all he knew. Great movie.
