I am looking for an old period drama (possibly Civil or Revolutionary War era) about two sisters. The eldest is pursued by an officer in the army and I think they become engaged. The younger sister is desperately in love with the same man. The young officer goes off to war and I believe there is a letter involved, somehow, but my memory is sketchy. In the end, the eldest sister pursues a religious calling as a nun, which brings the younger sister and the officer together. Both women are beautiful in their long period gowns and the officer is very handsome. The ending is very moving, when the young man goes to see his beloved at the convent and she tries to explain to him why she must pursue her calling.
