I'm not sure if its the same, but I guess the movie you are looking for is the fortunes and misfortunes of Moll Flanders, the film is and adaptation of a novel and there different versions there is one produced by BBC 1975 mini series with Julie Foster and there's an American version from 1996 with Robin Wright and Morgan Freeman
