Title Help

I had a favorite BBC/PBS drama, I thing that title of the series was "to be King". The lead actor was excellent and he passed awy after the series ended( Jeremy something, I think). The Plot was the MP, a member of Parliament(MP) wanted to be Prime Minister in the worst way. His wife was in on the scheme and killings. He dumped a girl friend off the top of a building when she was about to expose him and he poisoned a friend. I believe it was a 6 part series.
