Hi, I am looking for a movie about an Irish teenage girl living in America. I think it is a TV movie from the 90's or early to mid-2000's. The movie takes place in the early 20th century, 1920's or 1930's. A teenage girl lives with her family in America, possibly New York city. She is celebrating her birthday and invites friends from her school, including a boy she has a crush on. Her mother makes cakes and tea for the guests. During the birthday party two boys get into a fight and break a plate and the girl's father and mother get angry and demand the boys to buy a new plate. The girl is embarrassed because of this. Later in the movie the girl makes fun of the food that is served in her school and the principal punishes her by not letting her eat. The mother finds out about this and goes to the school and threatens the principal she will go to the press and tell them that her daughter is denied lunch in school because she is Irish. The principal apologises and promises to no longer deny the girl her lunch. Due to the girl not eating lunch for a long time she becomes ill with tuberculosis and her mother sends her to the countryside to live with her aunt to get better. The girl enjoys her time with her aunt and does get better after a few months.
