Hello lovely people on the Internet. ☺️ I am looking for a period drama movie I watched years ago. It is a black and white movie (I assume it was filmed somewhere in the 1930s or 1940s). The movie setting takes place in the Victorian era (1830-60s would be my guess because of the dresses the actress wore). I remember a young lady living with her family in a big mansion house and there is a man who is in love with her. She is accused of killing a man and goes to trial but due to lack of evidence she is set free. I remember the last scene where the narrator says that even though she is free she is neither guilty nor innocent. Any help in finding the title of this movie would be greatly appreciated.
