I think this movie was from the '90s or 2000s, a British period drama about a woman who'd come to stay on a man's estate, can't remember if they were newlyweds or still courting, anyway she starts having nightmares about his time in Africa which is constantly referred to in a vague and ominous way. She tries to uncover the mystery of what happened, and eventually finds out he raped and abused a whole bunch of slaves while he was over there. It was really shocking to me yet I haven't been able to find it again.
