I've been trying for years to find the name of a movie my wife and I saw in the 1990s.
It was set in 1800's (or 1700's) England, about a well-off man whose wife is so sick she's incapacitated. He gets her to agree to allow him to take a mistress so that he can have sexual relations with her (that the wife cannot do). She agrees, he chooses a mistress, she has a baby that he wants aborted...but she refuses. She raises him in secret, in an institution like a school or convent. In the end he finds her, discovers the child...and I don't remember the rest.
What is the name of that movie, anyone? Thanks!
