It's a Chinese series (probably from the 80s/90s) set in a kingdom with an elderly king and his many sons. One son becomes evil and sets out to kill his father and brothers so he can ascend the throne. There is also a wife/girlfriend of his, or maybe one of his brothers', who gives birth to a child, gives the child away, and then shaves her head to become a nun. I watched it as a child and never finished it. :(
