I'm trying to find a movie set around the tudor/regency era where a couple get married, and on their wedding night, the husband chooses to cut his arm and fake the marriage instead of consummating the marriage -- I can't remember if they didn't like each other or just didn't want to sleep together. From memory there was a lot of luscious backgrounds (velvet red material) but that's all.
