There is a movie I used to watch in 1997. It think it was set in the 1900s. It was about a woman whose twin daughters die and her nephew has to live with her. I remember the woman not liking the boy at first. I also remember a scene in the movie where the boy sleeps in a barn. I've have been trying to figure out the name of this movie for years, but haven't had any luck.
