Hi! I'm trying to remember a movie about a Victorian man- a professor or a high official- who is a recluse. He decides to take in a poor servant girl. He lives in a one room flat. As the years go by, the girl turns into a woman, and the man falls in love with her. I don't know if they marry, but they have a child together. Before the child is born, the man becomes sick and dies. The woman delivers the baby herself, because it would be dangerous for others to know she is a single mother. She and her husband had already decided to raise the child up, to become a high member of society.
