I watched this movie ages ago and I simply can't remember the title.
It's an American movie about an Italian family. The setting is post-war. The father goes to work in America and after a while he stops sending money to the family. The mother then decides to go to America with the son who is 4-5 years old. In the meantime the mother got pregnant with another guy I think. She dies on the boat giving birth to a baby girl. When the boy and the girl arrive to America the father takes them in but he's an abusive drunkard and the children grow up in a violence ridden home.
Can't remember much else. The movie goes on into their adulthood, and also the boy is dark haired while the girl is blonde.
