Title Help

I watched part of a movie from the 40s or so (black & white) in which a woman was out in a garden house while people were at a party in the house. It was a drama and there was a pianist in the story. I feel that the title was a one word title, but am not positive. The music was very much a dramatic part of the movie....especially when she is locked out of the party. I know this isn't much to go on but it has been driving me crazy since the early 80s. I have been hoping to come across it accidentally, so any ideas would be appreciated.
