Title Help

I am trying to find the title to a movie about a man and his wife and son living on a barge. They hire a man to help and the man has an affair with the wife numerous times during the movie. The wife sends the son to visit relatives while she and the helper continue have the affairs. The helper is also accused of murdering his girlfriend and goes on trail towards the end of the movie. I believe the helpers name is Adam. Not sure how old the movie is. i believe it is a foreign film though. Thanks for any help, ART
