Saw it on TV 25 or 30 years ago. Upper class Timothy Dalton type whose mother is a flake and wastes all the family money. Hero raises money by gambling with friends. Hero takes care of young woman. Word reaches her that hero had an accident in London. Woman insists on riding monster horse to London because "Jupiter is the only horse that can reach London at a gallop." Scandal ensues and her reputation is compromised. Hero says to her "Shall I make you love me?"
Mother takes up with pirates (what else?) and the hero has to sword fight it out with them using his mother's cane sword in a secret cave.
