I know most people prefer the 1995 BBC production however I like this adaptation a bit more. And the main reason is that it conveys emotion and the torment of our characters so much more than the coveted mini-series. Firth is incredible but he didn't portray emotion to me. The movie has flaws but as a compressed adaptation it manages to really make me really attach and feel for the characters. I could do that well with the book but not very well with the 1995 mini-series.
