I'm looking for a period drama about a shopkeeper's daughter who takes the fancy of a wealthy young man. She marries him. I remember that he studies at Oxford. He also has a brother (dark haired actor) who seems to have a bit of a crush on the wife. The husband contracts consumption and dies. The wife inherits the estate, while the younger brother goes off to the front(ww1). He is severely burned (or gased) and ends up scarred and in some sanitarium. The widow finds him and brings him back to the estate where he helps her manage it. They fall in love but because of the laws of the day they can't marry, so they live together. The movie ends with them getting married in the 50's or 60's with their children around them. Thanks for trying to solve this mystery for me.
