British drama series (screened in the 80s or 90s) about a young man who runs a record shop in the 1960s. He falls for a girl at a party but cannot find her again. He is later forced to marry his pregnant girfriend, whom he does not love, by her father. Eventually he leaves her after struggling with his conscience. I think he finds the original girl after a long time. She may have had his child but I am not sure about that. He wasn't very likeable or handsome but the script was honest and it struck a chord with me at the time. Does anyone remember it or the title?
