I'm not sure of the time period, but somewhere 40s or 50s I think. The Mom has struggled to put son through college, then loses her job but doesn't tell son. He get's married and she is hired by the daughter in law as a cook (DIL doesn't know who she is). If I recall it was a combination of comedy/drama. The MIL cooks so well that they want to hire her full time, but she has to keep her identity a secret from her son, which is where the comedy comes in. I really enjoyed this movie several times, but can't remember the title.
