The movie is a period piece with an old African American servant who watches over her keeper's white daughter. I think there was a scene when the daughter is of courting age when the mother and daughter go on a trip, but return shortly after. The mother claims her daughter, "caught a bug", but really she is pregnant. The girl dies at the end of the film and the servant is scene at by the coffin at the end.
