I'm trying to remember a movie or a TV movie from the late '80s or early '90s. It's a romantic drama.
The film follows a young couple. The woman has curly dark hair and looks older than her partner. She is a Catholic. Her parter works in advertising. He is Jewish.
They fall in love, get married, and buy a old house, which they remodel. They are very happy and have a girl. The husband doesn't want to baptize their daughter, but his mother-in-law baptizes her, with the help of a priest, in the backyard of his house. The father watches this happen and gets angry with his mother-in-law.
His mother-in-law dies soon after this. His wife is depressed, and he regrets his discussion with his mother-in-law.
At the end of the film, his wife and his baby are lying on the bed. The wife cries and hugs her baby. He sees them at the doorstep of their bedroom, lies down on the bed, and hugs them.
