A foreign film with subtitles (might have been French origin?) Starts with a young woman at her father's (or uncle's) funeral - finds a picture of an African woman with two young boys , the girl travels to Africa to find out who the people were/ Movie then goes back and forth - present time to 30's(?) - story about two French brothers whose father owned a plantation in Africa. The older brother is a playboy; younger brother comes to learn the business. Falls in love with a young African nurse who is married. He eventually ends up marrying her, but when they (eventually) try to leave to go to France, she is not allowed to leave as she is not white. Another smaller storyline is There is a young French woman who is in love with the older brother but he spurns her. She marries a doctor. I know thats vague and scattered - but does it ring any bells with anyone??
