It's about a servant girl who gets pregnant by her boyfriend who won't marry her. She has a baby girl and runs away to this little island village that is struggling to survive. She tries to seduce the vicar/father but ends up with another villager. The daughter grows up and falls in love with a native boy who gets her pregnant. The villagers are running these natives off the island. All natives leave except this boy who ends up getting killed for staying. The daughter has her baby but ends up dying somehow as well. The mother is left to raise the baby. I believe the mother has red hair and her daughter has dark hair.
