I saw an old, old movie, years ago about servants. It was shot in a drab, dark environment, downstairs mostly. Very tight quarters. Always up & dwn the skinny stairway with trays & such. There were scenes with the Master visiting some of the help at night (if you know what i mean). There was a crime(i think a murder?)and the police came, no one he questioned would talk. They kept coming back to try to get them to talk. One of the Masters tried to kill himself, the butler saved him. It was a old film, very dark (camera wise), but the acting was excellent, heavy accents. I looked for hours - keep coming up with Upstairs/Downstairs. I heard there was a B&W pilot for Upstairs/Dwnstrs, could it have been that? The movie was definitely B & W and very old.
