My wife related the plot of what she recalls as a period British drama in which a rich man has a wife in an asylum, whom he visits occasionally. He has an affair with his daughter's school teacher. In a subplot, another fellow thinks the town council will expand housing on a certain plot of land, so he buys it, but the council goes elsewhere. My wife recalled the rich guy "riding into the sea" to kill himself at the end. I can't recall a thing about it, maybe she saw it alone. But what could be the name?
