I'm looking for the name of a movie I saw years ago (70's? not sure). about a woman and her daughter & they are very poor. the mother tries to find work and help through social services they live in her car or on the streets most of the time but then do get a house which is rat infested and the mother tries to get the landlord to do something about it but ends up getting kicked out. the mother ends up having to give her daughter away by leaving her at a park where a man she knows (a social worker?)takes the daughter for to give her a better life. the daughter had a doll and the mother told the guy to make sure her daughter took the doll with her. the mother was watching while the man came to get the girl and mother was saying to herself get the doll or something a long those lines..can anyone help me please? thank you.
