Title Help

TV movie, made in 1995/1996? Set in the 1940s. The opening shows a young woman typing out a letter to her boyfriend, or a young man who she admired long ago. He eventually returns (from war?) but walks with a cane. Her new boyfriend gets jealous of him, and they have a fight in a barn. I keep thinking the title is 'Loving Jacob' or 'Letters to Jacob', but searching both titles comes up with nothing. The crippled young man doesn't show up too much in the film. Just her and there, until the climax fight at the end. The girl is not sure if she dreamed the young man up or not? Is he a ghost maybe?
