Title Help

I remember an old black and white movie when I was a teenager (I'm now 65). The only things I can remember are a young girl (about 10) traveling on an old boat (maybe a tug or old fishing boat) with an old man (I think it may have been her grandfather) and I think they were in search of her father(?). It seems like it was a swampy area in U.S. This is mainly all I can remember. Does anyone recognize anything about it? It has come back to bug me for years, so any help will be greatly appreciated.
