I believe I saw this movie(?) on TV perhaps around 2004-06. It MAY have been old by then. On a cable channel, like A&E or History or something later at night.
set in 1700-1800's(?) Britain?
There was a young girl in a family of wealth or of royalty. There was an older man (a tutor or something) who touched and seduced her on her bed while she studied a book.
The girl told this to an older woman who told her she should take him as a lover, and this prince or king or whatever she was to marry would just be a husband.
