I remember watching this drama as a young man in the 1980's. It featured a stately home and a young arrogant man who had the look of Jeremy Irons, living wuth his mother. he takes advantage of a number of ladies one of which contracts an illness & dies. In the ladies honour another man challenges the bounder to a duel & indeed the bounder is killed. I think it was on BBC 2.
