Title Help

I'm trying to locate the name (and a copy of) a miniseries, set in Germany. I'm not sure of the period, but it's a classic "period" piece, but probably the 16 or 1700's (horses, carriages, swords etc).
It was screened on the SBS channel in Australia in the early 1990s and the title was "(some name I can't remember) and Saxony".
It consisted of 6-12 one-hour episodes (again, my memory is blurry) and told a tale of the intrigues of the German court of the period.
Any help appreciated.
