Title Help

I'm trying to find the title of a tv series set in the early 1900's I think possibly about 1910. It was on ITV I think, on a Friday night sometime during early 2000's. It was set up north possibly Liverpool? As there were docks. The title is one long word. It was about a family, the mother died and the dad was left with the children, who were in their late teens? I'm sure there was a piano in the front parlour that they pawned at one point because they had no money. The son went away to sea as a waiter and turned out to be gay. One of the daughters had an affair with the man she worked for and I think had a baby. I'm sure John McArdle (Billy Corkhill) was the father but can't seem to find any trace. Can anyone help? Thank you!
