Period film (maybe made-for-tv). A young woman is sold into marriage by her parents to an older man. I seem to remember a scene where she's looking out the back window of a car and crying. On their wedding night he rapes her. They have a couple of children. They live on a craggy coastline. A man moves into the house next door. He keeps to himself-not friendly, a Liam Nisson type. One night the husband attacks the wife or one of the children. She pushes him and accidentally kills him. The hermit neighbor ends up helping the widow, and they fall in love. There is a scene where the law is after the oldest boy, and he is hiding out in a high rocky pasture. I think there's another scene where the mailman is riding a bike? That's all I can remember. Might have scene it in the early 80's.
