Wow, thanks a lot -- I appreciate this response very much... After your reply, I researched the whole thing on Wiki, and immediately recognised the whole plot to be the exact one (especially the part where the blonde mistress was picking the letter at the foot of the Chinese widow, and she was holding a knife above her blonde head). BUT the TV that movie I saw was probably a re-make in the 1980's -- for I did not see Bette Davis in it , but instead someone who looked like Jennifer Jason Leigh, and the murdered guy looked like Ian McShane ...THANKS !!!
