Hi Crafthole, Thanks very much for your Cranford messages and for your other suggestions! I must admit I only saw one episode of Cranford and then unfortunately missed the rest. I will try to watch it in full before the Christmas episodes come out so that I know what is happening :-) I have just added this to the timeline. I am very impressed with your knowledge of history! Your estimate for Cranford matched very well with the dates given here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cranford_(2007_TV_series)Thanks for sharing you experience with Johnny Depp! :-) I would have been very excited if that were me! Did he happen to say anything? Are you an archeologist? I have not forgotten your previous suggestions. I will add them as soon as possible :-) Thanks again and have a nice weekend!

Greetings i hope to be able to throw more light on dates. In this instance: Dangerous Liasons. The exact date is not clear from the film of 1988 although the manners and dress suggest it occurs just before the French Revolution. The film is based on a book by Choderlos de Laclos who was probably describing contemporary antics. this was written in 1782 so i would be tempted to plump for that.

Hi RE: Fanny Hill. John Cleland published tyhe story in 1748-1749. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fanny_Hill(Those of a more delicate sensibility may like to avert their eyes from the pictures on the right!) It is a pretty contemporary story so a timeline date of 148/9 would not be inappropriate. Some fascinating insights into this side of 18th century life can also be divined from a trawl through Harris's List which was a contemporary guide book to the ladies of Covent Garden (Ever wondered what Wickam got up to in London?). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harris%27s_List_of_Covent_Garden_Ladies
