At first, I didn't like this movie, but after seeing it again, it grew on me. I love the Jennifer Ehle/Colin Firth version, however, it is over 5 hours. For making the story in a shorter movie format, things have to be cut. With that in mind, I have no problems with the movie. Matthew Macfayden even appeals to me as Mr. Darcy. I love the scene when after he proposes, they argue and nearly kiss (one of the more passionate portrayals of our heroes). I have never seen (even the BBC Ehle/Firth version) a movie exactly like the book. Enjoy seeing Jane Austen's work brought to life in a movie form that is at least faithful to overall story--after all, the 1040's version has Lady Catherine approving of the marriage after "testing" Lizzie!
